Who we are

In September 1968, Earl R. Postell started his printing business from his basement in Southwest Washington, DC. After finding success within just a few months, he teamed up with another printer and opened his first official shop in Alexandria , Virgina. years later, in 2005, Melvin and his wife Cordelia, both educators in DC saw the value in expanding the business. They believed it was important not to just hire family members and experienced professionals, but also to create opportunities for students by offering internships to teach them how to trade.

Over the years, students from many well-known schools like Howard university, American university, the College of Southern Maryland, and others have interned with affordable A-1 Printing. Their contributions helped the business grow and improve. Many of these former interns have gone on to become successful in a variety of careers, including printing, public service, music , photography, IT, and corporate leadership some have even returned as parents of the next generation of A-1 interns or joined the company as a staff.
